WE EXIST TO GLORIFY GOD

BY MAKING DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST ACROSS THE STREET AND AROUND THE WORLD.

WORSHIP
To worship God means to pay honor, respect, and reverence to Him for His goodness and His greatness. Each of us must worship God individually by bringing glory to Him every day in all facets of life (1 Corinthians 10:31). We must also come together to worship God as a church family as we gather together on Sunday mornings to praise, pray, give, and learn from the preaching of His Word (Acts 2:46-47; Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 16:2).

GROW
All Christians are to grow to maturity in Christ (2 Peter 3:18). Growth takes place as we develop our personal relationship with Christ (John 15:1-8) through personal spiritual disciplines such as Bible study and prayer (1 Peter 2:2). Growth also takes place as we join together with other Christians in a church to teach and encourage one another (Ephesians 4:11-16). At Grace Church, we provide opportunities for children, students, and adults to grow to maturity in Jesus Christ.

SERVE
The Bible tells us that each Christian has received a spiritual gift—a special God-given and Spirit-empowered ability (Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31). Christians should use their spiritual gifts to serve others and build up the church body for the glory of God (Ephesians 4:11-16; 1 Peter 4:10-11). There are many opportunities to serve here at Grace Church, and we would be glad to help you find an area of service that will work with your gifts and interests.

GO
Jesus commanded us to make disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). We shouldn’t wait for people to come to us but should rather reach out to them by going to where they are with the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. Jesus’ command is for every Christian, not just church leaders, and so we encourage every member of Grace Church to be involved in going with the Gospel. There are two primary avenues through which we do this:

Community Outreach (across the street). Each Christian should be a light in his or her home, neighborhood, and workplace by showing Christ’s love and sharing His message with others. As a church we join together to go with the Gospel through community outreach right here in the city of Des Moines.

Global Missions (around the world). At Grace Church we place a high priority on global missions to take the good news of Jesus Christ to “all the nations” (Matthew 28:19) and to “the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). There are many ways to be involved in global missions: by participating in our annual Missions Conference, by praying for a missionary family on a Harvest Team, by giving to support missions work, and by going to the mission field on a short-term trip or as a career missionary.
