Phil Winfield
Phil was blessed with a Christian home and led to Christ by his father at 12. He grew up in Memphis, TN and in his youth made several short term mission trips with his parents to Mexico. Those trips had a profound impact on him and he sensed a call to gospel minsitry at 15. He met the love of his life, Bonnie, in Bible college. After serving for five years in a chruch plant in Chrstertown, Maryland, Phil and Bonnie have served together in some capacity at Grace church since 1984. It has been a delight to serve as an associate pastor, co-pastor, missionary deputee for 13 years, and presently as Sr. Pastor since July 2001. His passions are simple. They are to preach the word of God clearly, to do the work of an evangelist, to help believers grow, and to make an impact with the gospel whever he can. Phil and Bonnie are blessed with three chidlren and 15 grandchidlren. Phil loves the outdoors, fishing, trekking, and spending time with Bonnie finding an out of the way spot for a vacation, finding a new restaurant, or just working together in the garden.
Matt Agee
Matt Agee has served as Pastor of Young Adults and Connections since August of 2016. Matt is passionate about teaching God’s Word and helping people connect to Jesus and His Church. He grew up in a Christian home and believed the gospel at 10 years old. He served at a church in Charlotte, North Carolina before God called his family to Des Moines. He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte for undergrad and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary for his Master's degree. He enjoys Alabama football, good coffee, and spending time with his family. Matt is married to Kacy and they have three children: Zeke, Hattie, and Jack.
Josh Colyer
Josh and his wife Jenise have been associated with Grace Church since 2001. He was the pastor over kids and Jr. High ministry. In 2016, Josh, Jenise and their 4 kids moved to Africa to be Global Partners. In 2023, they moved back to Iowa as Josh was offered the position of Executive Pastor of Ministries. He enjoys serving Grace Church in this role, building up the team and helping adults connect with one another and grow in their relationship with Jesus. Josh loves cycling. From fixing bikes to bikepacking trips, he's always ready to hit the trails.
Michael Hoskinson
Michael Hoskinson has been a part of the Grace Church staff since June 2019. He is originally from Ohio and graduated from Cedarville University with a double major in Worship Arts and Business Management. He and his wife, Mel, were married in May 2019 and have a son, Caden. They enjoy traveling and discovering new places around the Des Moines area. Michael has been involved in worship ministry since his freshman year of high school and he is passionate about pointing the Church to worship God as a response to who He is.
Jonathan Meyer
Jonathan Meyer was blessed to grow up right here in Des Moines, IA. He graduated from Clarks Summit University with a Bachelors in Bible and holds two Masters Degrees; one from Faith Baptist Bible Seminary and one from Dallas Theological Seminary. He served 9 years as an Assistant Pastor at the Fellowship Bible Church in Oskaloosa and joined the staff at Grace Church in August of 2003. Because of his love for students and small churches, in March of 2004 he founded Ignite Youth Leadership Conference. He loves his wife, Kim, and his family: Jon & Emily Snow, Isaac and Anna Grace Meyer. He loves to play pickleball, cards, ride dirt bikes and hang out with students as much as possible.
Kirby VanNausdle
Kirby VanNausdle is a Des Moines native and also lived in the Southwest. Upon hearing a gospel message during an Easter service, he realized he was separated from God by sin and in need of a Savior. He made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ at the age of 18. Soon thereafter, he dedicated his life to serving the Lord in any role as God would lead. In March 2015, Kirby transitioned from a corporate career in financial services to full-time ministry at Grace Church. Along with a dedicated staff, Kirby oversees the day to day operations of Grace Church as Executive Pastor through financial management, office administration and coordination of Grace’s facilities. Kirby and Pam were married in 1993 and have two grown children. Kirby enjoys spending time with his family, reading, golfing and bird hunting.
Andrew Nippert
Andrew Nippert wants to help students discover what it means to truly know God and to make Him known. As a part of the Church’s disciple-making mission, he wants to see parents, volunteers, and students all equipped to lead their worlds to Jesus. In his free time, Andrew loves to go running or hiking in the great outdoors and play board games with family and friends. He also really enjoys eating, especially Buffalo Chicken Wings. Andrew married his best friend, Carol, in 2012 and they have 4 crazy awesome kids, Jemma, Joel, Audri, and Alyse.
Brien Brough
Brien Brough joined Grace staff in 2015. Brien has a passion for joining parents in pointing kids to Jesus. He was an elementary school teacher for nine years then began serving as a kids’ pastor in 2007. He and his wife, Dawn, were married in Oskaloosa, IA, in 1998. They have five children: Victoria, Braeden, Ethen, Caroline, and Annalise. As a family, they enjoy biking, camping, swimming, sledding, and playing with their dog, Auggie. Brien’s primary roles at Grace involve partnering with parents, training leaders, and teaching children. He desires for KidsTown at Grace to bring glory to God as His Word is taught to the kids.
Marty Kelly
Marty Kelly is the Pastoral Care and Missions Pastor at Grace Church. He was born and raised in Wilmington, North Carolina and attended Grace Baptist Church where he accepted Christ as a teenager. Upon graduation from High School, Marty moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he attended Tennessee Temple University and the University of Tennessee. Marty and his wife, Sheila joined the ministry team at Grace Church the first time in the spring of 1997 and served for 6 years. After having moved to Florida for a few years, Marty and his family returned back to Iowa, eventually returning to Grace Church where he served again as Worship Pastor for 6+ years. In the summer of 2017, Marty began serving in Missions as well as overseeing the Pastoral Care Ministry at Grace. Marty’s passion is seeing people come to know Christ and to worship Him.
Denise Beridon
Denise Beridon was raised in a Christian home but didn’t actually make Jesus the Lord of her life until she was 24 years old while traveling with a ministry called Life Action Ministries. She met her husband, Randy, during that time and they were married in 1990 and have 3 grown daughters. Randy and Denise have been a part of Grace Church since 2000. Denise is the wedding coordinator for Grace as well as serving full-time as one of the administrative assistants in the office.

Kim Jarrell
Kim Jarrell was born and raised in a Christian home with five sisters and one brother. She grew up singing and traveling with her three older sisters through their high school & college years. Kim accepted Christ at an early age and has a heart for the ministry. She is the ministry assistant to the worship, missions & pastoral care ministries and coordinates all of the funerals held at Grace & has been on staff at Grace Church for the past 35 years. Kim has her bachelor’s degree in religion and ministry from Luther Rice University. She enjoys spending time with her adult children & spouses & the rest of her family.
Karla Butters
Karla Butters has been serving in ministry in some capacity for over 25 years. She is currently the full-time coordinator for Ignite Youth Leadership Conference (IYL). Karla has been married to Ken since 1993. They have four grown children and fifteen grandchildren.
Stephany Reeves
Stephany Reeves is the Financial Assistant to Pastor Kirby. Stephany is thankful she grew up in a Christian home with many family members in ministry; she committed her life to Christ in the fourth grade. She and her husband Doug were married in 1990. Their family is blessed with a son, two grown daughters & their husbands, and a granddaughter.
Devona Tarbell
Devona Tarbell grew up as a PK so she was taught about God’s love from birth. Around 6 years of age, she asked Jesus to forgive her and began a personal relationship with him. Because she was saved at a young age, she is passionate about sharing God's love to children. Devona is the assistant for Children Ministries and enjoys serving with others at Grace to reach the next generation. Devona and Tim started attending Grace in 2009 and Devona started serving on staff in 2016. They have three children (Cameron, Corinn and Cael). She loves spending time with family and friends, connecting with students, walking their dogs (Tundra and Finley), and hiking, especially in the southwest.
Leah Fry
Leah Fry has served on the Womens Ministry team since 2015 and in 2019 became the Director. She was east coast born and midwest raised. Attended Clark Summit University where she met her husband Ryan Fry, who serves as an Elder of Grace Church. Together they are pasionate about local church ministry and use their gifts to equip and encourage the body. She is a wife, mother, photographer and friend who deisres her life to point others to Jesus in and through it all.
Seth Plascencia
Seth graduated from Moody Bible institute with a degree in Biblical Preaching and returned home to join the Grace Church staff in May 2024. Seth grew up in Des Moines attending Grace Church and it is here where he felt called to follow God. He is passionate about testifying of the good news of God's Grace and desires the lost to be saved and the lonely to feel loved. He enjoys spending time with people, hosting events, and drinking sweet tea or lemonade - but not together!
